Comparison semicontact and fullcontact disciplines of kickbox in terms of general endurance and action speed
Vesecká, Renata ; Pavelka, Radim (advisor) ; Venzara, Jan (referee)
Title: Comparison of semi-contact and full-contact kickboxing disciplines in terms of general endurance and action speed. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is to compare contestants of both disciplines and determine whether there are any differences of speed or endurance nature. The second objective is to create a suitable test battery which is valid for determining special action speed and endurance. Methods: This thesis is of empirical and theoretical nature. The thesis is supported by analyses from specialized literature in the fields of general sport preparation and training martial sports materials, data collection, statistical method of ANOVA. Results: The thesis results show that there are indeed differences in the prepairedness of the contestants from both disciplines, above all in the endurance. We came across an interesting result when testing the special speed. Trainers should certainly consult training methods of related disciplines. Keywords: kickboxing, disciplines, performance structure, testing
Creatures of Science, Living Models and the Construction of Scientific Communities
Stella, Marco ; Hermann, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tinková, Daniela (referee) ; Janko, Jan (referee)
Creatures of Science. Living Models and the Construction of Scientific Communities. Marco Stella The present thesis, which is to be understood as a contribution both to history and anthropology of science, deals with the relationship of the construction and emergence of scientific communities and the use of models in science, or construction of new forms of knowledge. We deal primary with the history of life sciences, especially behavioral sciences, which formed in the beginning of the 20th century as a relatively independent a scientific field and a rather heterogeneous platform for a common research of life utterances and cognition of man and other animals. The thesis focuses mainly on living models, often used biological and psychological research. Using Latour's concepts of modernity and hybridity, the thesis points at the hybridizing effect of behavioral sciences (the model always shapes and creates the modelled) and also at their ways of human and animal images. The second often serve as a basis for constructing the second. I also discuss some the ways how implicit model properties, which influence the (seemingly) isolated sphere of science, affect the chances of a community for becoming a discipline. On three examples from the history of life sciences, i.e. the unsuccessful institutionalization of...

Bibliotherapy in the environment of public libraries
Šlamberová, Lucie ; Landová, Hana (advisor) ; Vášová, Lidmila (referee)
This thesis aims to introduce the notion of bibliotherapy and its application in public library environment. The text is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the notion of bibliotherapy itself is introduced, together with questions of who is engaged in this field, as well as the effects of reading. There are presented several book titles which belong to bibliotherapeutic literature. The substantial part of the thesis is then built on specific examples of bibliotherapy practiced in public libraries in the Czech Republic, as well as abroad. The practical part features first an interview with Mrs Marcela Kořínková who actively engages in bibliotherapy; second, there is a proposal of implementation of a bibliotherapeutic department in an imaginary public library, and last, there is a research presenting the wide public's awareness of, and interest in the field of bibliotherapy.
